  I've started a project to read all of Rohmer's Fu books and to blog my reviews of them. Since the Karloff film is minimally based on the MASK novel, I did a little compare-and-contrast, and found that the movie's more entertaining than the MASK book, but not as good overall as the better books in the series. The Mask of Fu Manchu, published inwas the sixth of Sax Rohmer’s Fu Manchu novels. This time the threat to civilisation comes from an heretical Islamic sect. Sir Lionel Barton, the eminent but rather fiery archaeologist, has discovered the tomb of El Mokanna, the Veiled Prophet/5(32).

The Mask of Fu Manchu is the direct sequel to The Daughter of Fu Manchu, although set a year or so later. Both the Doctor and his daughter - now dutifully working at his side - are seeking to obtain an ancient mask from Nayland Smith and Greville, to use to /5(10). The Mask of Fu Manchu I've never read any of the Fu Manchu books, so I can't comment about that.
